Island by island
Oahu. Waikiki and the south shore are usually drier; the windward east side is where showers are more common.
Maui. The Road to Hana runs along the wet, windward side, so keep an umbrella in the car. West Maui resort areas are generally drier.
Big Island. Hilo, on the windward side, is famously rainy; the Kona side is much drier.
Kauai. The north shore and interior get more rain than the south shore around Poipu.
